Grouse Slab
Grouse Slab***
Approach: About a 10 minute walk from the highway. Head north until you hit a nice trail (the PCT) and follow it to the right (northeast) before it makes the switchbacks up the steep hill head right to the boulders.
Ambiance: **** I pretty idyllic place to climb, giant granite slabs, old growth forest and a view of donner lake far below. It is popular, so their is a fair chance their will be boulderers or climbers there.
Parking: Their are several pullouts near the trailhead though they are popular with hikers, climbers and boulderers.
Kids/Dogs: Their is some stuff for the kids to climb on, dogs are pretty free to roam though it is a popular spot.
Shade: Partial
Rock Type: Granite-Quality
Notes: Lots of photo ops.

Directions: From Truckee take Donner Pass Road (Old US 40) up the pass and park just past the overlook and the cool bridge. The boulder are on the right (North) side of the highway.
