Approach: The Roadside boulder lives up to the name, the riverside boulder is the farthest away and is maybe a 5 minute walk from the car.
Ambiance: *** You will probably see some people but there are some great sandy pools in the Yuba to cool off in, just below the riverside boulder.
Parking: Their are a lot of spaces, and a pit toilet just past the boulders as well as a few pullouts along the road. The area is popular with hikers but on most days its not hard to find a spot.
Kids/Dogs: Both seem to like the river and with the exception of roadside boulder traffic shouldn't be a problem.
Shade: Minimal.
Rock Type: Granite-Quality
Notes: The stuff at North Rainbow is now closed as it is on private property and the owner has become hostile.
Directions: From I80 take the rainbow exit and go south. Follow the road westerly to the Loch Leven trailhead on the right. Park there or in the dirt just before it.
