Old County
Old County *** This place is sharp. The flesh eating volcanic rock is hard on the hands, but makes for feet almost anywhere. Its up in the trees above the lake and the farther back you go the better the views get. Its one of the last places out of the snow. There are a lot of boulders out here though the trees hide them well.

Approach: 5-10 minutes to the main area, the rest is even farther back.
Ambiance: ** The main area is pretty popular so you usually will not have it to yourself the rest is petty spread out and doesn't see near as much traffic. It's cool looking rock in cool looking forest. Here and their you can catch a glimpse of Tahoe.
Parking: Parking is a bit tricky, the trailhead doesn't offer much and its right next to houses, you can probably get 5 or 6 cars by the trailhead, but be respectful to keep this area open
Kids/Dogs: Great for both. Their is a lot of climbing for the little ones too.
Shade: Plentiful.
Rock Type: Volcanic-sharp
Notes: Sharp, popular spot.

Directions: On SR 28 Between Carnelian Bay and Tahoe City Look for Old County Road away from the lake. Take Old County Road until it ends and a rock blocked dirt road. Park here (parking is limited do your part to keep this area open.) Follow the dirt road just past the houses theirs a single track path that heads left up the hill. Follow that until your back on a dirt road. Head left and look for the Crawford and Hen boulders on the right. Their easy to miss in the trees. If your one the road for more than a couple of minutes you passed them.
